Marilyn Wilson, RN, CBPN-IC, Cancer Care Coordinator, St. Mary’s Hospital, has received the designation of Certified Breast Patient Navigator from the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC).
Wilson is certified to navigate a patient through the breast imaging and breast cancer stages with assistance from St. Vincent Regional Cancer Collaborative, St. Mary’s site team members. Moving a patient through breast care or breast cancer care is a highly individualized process. Breast Patient Navigators guide patients through the continuum of care, from making sure they receive timely test results, to helping to schedule follow-up or care treatment
The program consists of instruction on the core competencies of navigation, concluding with a certification test.
