Feldenkrais: Awareness Through Movement

Tuesday, February 20, 1 to 3:30 p.m. or 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Journaling for health combines reflections and feedback into actions that increase our wellbeing. Receive a free journal, pen, and guidebook on how to journal proactively. A program of the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation (WWHF) Rural Women’s Health Network. Space is limited. Free.

Educational Health Screenings

Cardiovascular Assessment

Thursdays, by appointment
This assessment will measure your blood pressure, heart rate, cholesterol levels, fasting blood sugar, C-reactive protein, body mass index, EKG, and other factors to determine your 10-year risk of developing heart disease. A cardiac registered nurse will review the results with you. A 12-hour fast is required.
Fee: $40. Scholarships are available.

Bone Density Screening

Thursday, February 22, 9 a.m. to noon, by appointment
A simple test that uses ultrasound to measure the bone density of your heel can help you learn whether you may be at risk of developing osteoporosis. While this is not a diagnostic exam, a health care professional will discuss the results and answer your questions. Recommended for women age 40 and older. Fee: $15 per person

Healthy Families

Girl Talk

Saturdays, January 27 and February 24, 9 a.m. to noon
This program is for girls ages 10 to 12 and their mothers or other significant female adults. Focus is on changes that occur as a girl matures. Topics include growing up, menstruation, communication, and friendship. Mothers and daughters separate for part of the program— girls do a craft activity while moms meet for a discussion.

Infant/Child CPR

Monday, February 5, noon to 3 p.m.
This course provides information regarding the American Heart Association Infant and Child Chain of Survival, signs of choking in infants and children, prevention of sudden infant death syndrome, and prevention of the most common fatal injuries in infants and children.
Presenters: St. Mary’s Hospital CPR instructors
Fee: $21, which includes book

Natural Family Planning

By appointment
Learn to avoid or achieve a pregnancy without the use of drugs or devices. Couples learn the signs of fertility and infertility and how to chart and interpret the signs of fertility in the female menstrual cycle. To schedule an appointment, call 920-498-4203.

Support and Encouragement

Look Good...Feel Better

Mondays, January 8, February 5, and March 5, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
As a national American Cancer Society (ACS) public service program, Look Good…Feel Better helps women receiving cancer treatments learn how to manage appearance-related side effects. Free.

Elizabeth Ministry

Elizabeth Ministry offers companionship and support to women during times of personal crisis. Women are assigned a volunteer partner who has gone through a similar experience such as miscarriage, infertility, or hysterectomy. The volunteer provides friendship and emotional support with this one-on-one service. To request help or to volunteer, call Sue Costello at 920-498-4203.

To ensure your place in the programs, fees must be received FOUR days prior to class date. Please send class fee to: A Woman’s Place, 1727 Shawano Avenue, Suite 101, Green Bay, WI 54303.

Class Cancellations: In the event a class must be cancelled, registrants will be notified in advance and an appropriate credit or refund will be issued.

Credit Policy: Individual class credits will be issued if A Woman’s Place cancels a class or you have a valid medical excuse from a doctor. Class credits must be used within six months of the cancellation date.

Refund Policy: Full refunds will be given only if A Woman’s Place cancels a class. A $10 processing fee will be charged for any exceptions.
