Infant/Child CPR

Monday, October 8, noon to 3 p.m.
This course provides information regarding the American Heart Association Infant and Child Chain of Survival, signs of choking in infants and children, prevention of sudden infant death syndrome, and prevention of the most common fatal injuries in infants and children. Not for certification.

T’ai Chi Series

Wednesdays, October 10 through November 14, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Feldenkrais: Awareness Through Movement

Mondays, October 15, 22, and 29, 1 to 2 p.m. or 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Attend the Feldenkrais series to become more in tune with habitual movement patterns and learn new options to improve coordination, relaxation, and flexibility. Loose clothing, blanket/mat, and two towels required.

Keep Your Bones Strong and Healthy

Tuesdays, October 16, 23, and 30, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
If you’ve been diagnosed with osteoporosis or osteopenia or are just interested in learning about what you can do to prevent bone loss, consider this three-session class. You’ll learn about diet, medical management, medication and exercise, and how they relate to bone density from a team of experts from St. Mary’s Hospital and Prevea Health.

After the Diagnosis: Learning the “Art of Reframing”

Explore the joys and difficulties in finding meaning after a lifechanging experience. Discover the possibilities for growth based on learning the “art of reframing.” You will find expression in images rather than words by creating your own collages from magazines. No art experience necessary.

Fueling the Female Athlete

Thursday, November 1, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Understand your body’s nutritional needs. Learn the current trends in sports nutrition, proper nutrition during the season and off-season, and the use of supplements. Recognize eating disorders. And become educated on the common myths associated with nutrition. Free.

Bone Density Screening

Thursday, October 11, 9 a.m. to noon, by appointment
A simple test measuring the bone density of the heel using ultrasound can help you learn whether you may be at risk for developing osteoporosis. While this is not a diagnostic exam, a health care professional will discuss the results and answer your questions. Recommended for women age 40 and older.
Fee: $15 per person

Balance Screening

Thursdays, October 18 and November 29, by appointment
Falls are a leading cause of injury. If you experience dizziness or loss of balance, consider this 15-minute screening to assess your balance. Offered by St. Mary’s Rehab Services Department. Free. To register, call 920-498-4267.

Cardiovascular Assessment

Thursdays, by appointment
This assessment will measure your blood pressure, heart rate, cholesterol levels, fasting blood sugar, C-reactive protein, body mass index, EKG, and other factors to determine your 10-year risk for developing heart disease. A cardiac registered nurse will review the results with you. A 12-hour fast is required.
Fee: $40; scholarships are available

Healthy Families

Look Good…Feel Better

Mondays, September 10, October 1, November 5, and December 3, 5:30 to 8 p.m.
As a national American Cancer Society (ACS) public service program, Look Good…Feel Better helps women receiving cancer treatments learn how to manage the appearance-related side effects. Free.

For New Parents: After the Baby

Wednesdays, September 19, 26, and October 3, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
You did all the right things in anticipation of the birth of your baby. And now that your baby is here you want to be the best parent you can be. This threesession class will go beyond the basics. You’ll explore some of the issues new parents face.
Session 1: Creating a Blueprint for Your Family
Session 2: Hot-Button Issues: Putting Out the Fires
Session 3: Keeping the Relationship Strong: Communication

Girl Talk

Saturdays, September 29 and October 27, 9 a.m. to noon
This program is for girls ages 10 to 12 and their mothers or other significant female adults. Focus is on changes that occur as a girl matures. Topics include growing up, menstruation, communication, and friendship. Mothers and daughters separate for part of the program—girls do a craft activity while moms meet for a discussion.

Natural Family Planning

By appointment
Learn to avoid or achieve a pregnancy without the use of drugs or devices. Couples learn the signs of fertility and infertility and how to chart and interpret the signs of fertility in the female menstrual cycle. To schedule an appointment, call 920-498-4203.

To ensure your place in the programs, fees must be received FOUR days prior to class date. Please send class fee to: A Woman’s Place, 1727 Shawano Avenue, Suite 101, Green Bay, WI 54303.

Class Cancellations: In the event a class must be cancelled, registrants will be notified in advance and an appropriate credit or refund will be issued.

Credit Policy: Individual class credits will be issued if A Woman’s Place cancels a class or you have a valid medical excuse from a doctor. Class credits must be used within six months of the cancellation date.

Refund Policy: Full refunds will be given only if A Woman’s Place cancels a class. A $10 processing fee will be charged for any exceptions.
