Hybrid Diabetes: An Emerging Trend
Doctors are seeing an increase in “hybrid diabetes”—a mixture of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body lacks insulin. In type 2 diabetes, often linked to being overweight, the body can’t use insulin properly.
Treatment for hybrid diabetes can be difficult. People often need insulin, as well as additional medication to help them use the insulin. Weight gain and lack of exercise may be to blame for the condition.
